The LaPlatte Nature Park is comprised of about 145 acres of town-owned open space that supports many forms of passive recreation. The trails meander through a field still managed for hay and travel through the woods and alongside the LaPlatte River. Trails may be used for walking, running, snowshoeing or cross-country skiing. In the meadow near the post office, a hill serves as a popular sledding hill in the winter.

Location

The community gardens are located in the Park off LaPlatte Circle, and they offer an ideal location to park your car before heading out for a trail walk. Parking is also available the north end of the park in the Shelburne Shopping Park. There is a trailhead located behind the Shelburne Supermarket. Limited parking is also available along Falls Road. Accessible parking is located at the south entrance off Falls Road near the Falls Overlook. A sign notes the entrance near the bridge on Falls Road.

Pets

Pets are welcome, but must be under owner control and kept out of the community gardens. Please pick up after your pet. This park has a “pack it in, pack it out” policy, so

please plan accordingly.
